My name is Katie 👋 

I landed my first media job as a Media Assistant at the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland with the help of the student internship program at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center, where I enrolled in the TV/Video Production program. The exposure to the graphic design and video production world lead me down a path of working alongside a handful of local small businesses to create digital and print media. 
 
After six years of gaining experience in the field, I took the next step in advancing my digital communication skillset by obtaining my Bachelor of Arts at The University of Baltimore. While working alongside peers and professionals, I enhanced my skillset by creating various media and design mockup projects. During my second semester at the University, my photography professor, Julie Simon, nominated me for the Annual Inspired Discoveries showcase. My presentation explored the creative process behind my photography and how subjects have the power to bring life into an otherwise still image. I was up against the best and brightest students presenting recent research and creative work. The Inspired Discoveries showcase challenged me to think about why I create art the way I do and what it means to me. 
 
I aim to work as a social media manager and graphic designer to showcase my customer relations skills and abilities to analyze market trends, build social connections, and develop impactful marketing that drives business growth.
